The Dream of Meaningful Work
HabiCorps Workforce Development Program is an AmeriCorps program that offers meaningful, hands-on training in construction trades to individuals facing significant employment barriers. As AmeriCorps members, HabiCorps Trainees work in small teams led by skilled instructors on projects ranging from new construction to complete gut rehabilitation. As a result, HabiCorps team members gain a wide range of experience in demolition, deconstruction, framing, carpentry and more.
Throughout the program, trainees practice punctuality, timekeeping, resume writing and interviewing. All HabiCorps Trainees are AmeriCorps service members that serve 1700 hours and earn a stipend and benefits while building Habitat homes that transform lives and underserved communities. Upon completion of the program, Trainees receive an educational award that can be used toward apprenticeship or college, as well as job placement assistance.
