Thank you for applying for the Habitat Chesapeake Homeownership Program! You will receive a determination by mail in 3-4 weeks. If there are any questions concerning your application, Habitat Staff will be reaching out to you directly by phone or email.
Now that you have completed the pre-application, ensure that you are ready for the next step in our application process.
First, you will need to attend our Homebuyer Information Session hosted on Zoom. During these sessions we go through all the qualifications, expectations, and amazing benefits that come along with purchasing your home through Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. If you meet our baseline requirements at the pre-application stage we will be sending you the “Full Application”. At this stage, we will be requesting your financial documents to determine how and if a monthly mortgage payment can fit into your budget, taking your monthly obligations such as bills / debts and comparing them to your income.
To determine your affordability we will be requesting your copies of the following:
- Copies of your Federal and State Tax returns and W2s for 2019, 2020, and 2021 tax years
- 3 months of your most recent paystubs from any full and part time employments
- 6 months of all bank accounts in your name including checking, savings, and retirement accounts
- Copies of bills that are in your name and that you pay on time each month
While we know you may not have copies of these documents on hand, we want you to start gathering them now to give you a head start if you are selected to move on to the Full Application. We have a limited number of homes and this is a first-come, first-served program. The only way to reserve your spot in the program is by handing in a complete application to determine your eligibility.
