Women Build 2023 – Empowering Through Service

Celebrating Women Build 2023 – Empowering Women and Building with Habitat Chesapeake!
May is a special month for many — from school graduations to Memorial Day plans, many folks look forward to this month for family cookouts, getting together with friends, and fun outdoor plans as the weather warms up. But many of our supporters also look forward to May as a yearly opportunity to gather together with like-minded women to build special connections onsite at Habitat Chesapeake’s month-long Women Build celebration.
During Women Build month, volunteers come together onsite to help build homes for deserving families in the Baltimore region. Women Build invites women in particular to practice skills in construction and leadership by working alongside Habitat Chesapeake staff members, assisting and leading on projects such a dry wall installation, painting, and carpentry tasks.
Thank you M. Luis Construction and Marriott International
Check out the photos below from this year’s Women Build with M. Luis Construction and Marriott International! Women volunteers met at Eager Street in Milton-Montford, East Baltimore, to help install drywall and tackle other interior projects. Thank you to everyone that came out!
Being able to support affordable homeownership, especially for women…it’s really the foundation for success.

Special thanks to M. Luis Construction, who is joining Habitat Chesapeake again this year a sponsor of Women Build month. Check out the video below with Andrea Imhoff, Director of H.R. at M. Luis to learn more about how our partners are supporting women through leadership opportunities both on- and off-site, as well as the important of supporting women as homeowners.
Wells Fargo joined Habitat Chesapeake onsite on May 18 & 19 in Milton-Montford, East Baltimore. Volunteers helped install siding on Rose Street and paint interiors on Eager Street. From human resources professionals to local branch tellers, Wells Fargo women of all ages contributed their time and efforts to help rehab these homes, which will one day be sold to Habitat homeowners with an affordable, zero-percent interest mortgage.
Hord Coplan Macht also joined the ranks of Women Build sponsors this year! HCM has been integral to the design and planning of Habitat Chesapeake’s East Baltimore affordable housing development in Orchard Ridge, renowned for its colorful townhomes and suburban-like feel in the heart of the city. HCM was awarded In-Kind Donor of the Year in 2022 and Habitat Chesapeake could not be more pleased to continue this partnership through Women Build 2023!
Thank you to all the Women Build 2023 sponsors!

@habitatches ❓ What's it like to become a Habitat homeowner? 🗨️ We asked Francine, our latest Habitat homebuyer in Pigtown, #Baltimore. Many of our partner homebuyers are women like Francine, who dedicate HOURS of sweat equity to work hard alongside staff and volunteers on Habitat homes. Thank you Francine for partnering with us! 💙 #WomenBuild #WomenRock #HabitatForHumanity #fyp #feelinggood #goodvibes ♬ Here Comes the Sun – Relaxing Instrumental Music
