In Maryland, 1 in 7 households spend 30-50% of their income on housing. With increased housing costs and growing income inequality, thousands of Marylanders are facing the difficult decision of choosing between housing, nutritious food, reliable transportation or health care.
Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is committed to expanding acesss to affordable homeownership opportunities so no family must face these decisions. Home shouldn’t cost you your health or your children’s education. Let’s do something about it.
Homeownership is life-changing for families, bringing safety, stability and opportunity to build wealth across generations. As families’ lives are transformed, so is the community.
Housing is one of the most fundamental building blocks for generational wealth. When we do anything at BGE, it is with the community in mind. Affordable, safe and decent housing is a foundational building block for that.
