Meet Harry Thompson - Glen Burnie ReStore Volunteer!

Harry Thompson has been dedicating his free time to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake ReStore for several years, since the Pasadena ReStore (now in Glen Burnie) was in existence. He first heard about ReStore’s volunteer opportunities 5 years ago when he stopped by the former location in Pasadena while dropping off a few donations. That is where he met Debra Smith, now the Donations Logistics Manager for ReStore,, who told him about ReStore’s need for volunteers during a casual conversation. From that moment, he decided to join the dedicated, ever-growing ReStore volunteer team and has been part of the ReStore family ever since!

Harry has been volunteering on a weekly basis (often twice a week!) with Chesapeake ReStore before and after the transition of the Pasadena store to Glen Burnie. He has always been a fan of tools, hardware and home-improvement items - some of the most popular products that ReStore is known to sell at very competitive prices. Being surrounded by these items during his volunteer shifts each week make it a fun environment for him to work, as he can use his expertise and handy ideas to help customers with their home projects. Harry says “This is a good place to volunteer if you’re a handy person- this is the place to be!”

In addition to using and learning about home-improvement items, Harry is also a big fan of bike riding. When he’s not volunteering at the Glen Burnie ReStore, he likes to ride his bike around the scenic Baltimore-Annapolis trails.

Harry has been such a hardworking and valuable addition to our Volunteer family that his efforts have not gone unnoticed. In June, he will be recognized as a ReStore Partner of the Year at our annual Cornerstone Society Donor Reception! We cannot show enough appreciation and give him enough thanks for all of his dedication and time given to ReStore over the past several years. Congratulations, Harry!
